How media:on Works, From Choosing a Pack to the Proof Report

What happens after you order: the packs and prices, outlets named up front, editorial review, 48-hour publication, the proof report and the limits.

media:on Editorial6 min read

You choose a pack, see the outlets it names before you pay, pay once, and send us your news or your own draft. An editor reviews the release, you approve the final text, and media packs go live within 48 hours of that approval across 500+ news, finance and business sites. When you are published you get a proof report listing every live link, and if we can't get your release published, we refund you.

What are the packs and what do they cost?

There are five packs. Each is paid once: no retainer, no annual membership and no sales call.

There are two ways to add coverage. Buying a main pack together with the bundle offered alongside it takes $139 off the total. And if you would rather have one premium release, premium outlets are priced individually on the outlet list: Fortune is $1,569, Reuters $1,499, Forbes $11,999 and TechCrunch $34,499.

Step 1: choose your industry and your pack

Ordering happens at Get Published in three screens. You pick your industry (Tech, Web3, Finance, Restricted or Other), choose your media, then give the details your report and invoice will go to.

Each pack card names its outlets before you pay. The Global Media Package, for example, names AP News, Business Insider, Barchart and StreetInsider. Those named outlets are what the guarantee covers. The rest of the 500+ network is listed publicly, so you can see the kind of sites your release will appear on before you commit.

Step 2: send your news

Right after checkout you give us your news. There are two routes:

  • Brief our writer. Tell us the headline, the key facts and who to quote, and our AI editor drafts the release from what you give it.
  • Upload your own draft. Paste in a release you have already written.

Either way, you can add one image, your company description and the links you want. A release includes up to 400 words and one image. It should be an announcement, not an advert: a launch, a raise, a partnership, a hire, a milestone, a product update or a report. If you are not sure your news is worth a release, send it over and we will tell you straight. Is my news worth a press release? covers how to judge it yourself.

If you want a person to write it from scratch, add the human-written release for $120. Our editors write your press release for you, top to bottom.

Step 3: editorial review and your approval

Every media release is read by an editor before it is filed. The editor checks it against what newswires accept and what journalists expect: a headline that states the news, a dateline, a named person for any quote, a media contact, no more than three links, no unsupported superlatives, and a clear description of the company. The structure we write to is set out in the anatomy of a modern press release.

You then see the final text and approve it. Nothing is filed until you do. The 48-hour clock starts at your approval, not at payment, so the time you take to review does not count against it.

Step 4: filing and publication

Once approved, the release is filed with the newswire and syndicated to the sites in your pack. Media packs go live within 48 hours of approval. Directory submissions take about two weeks, because each directory is reviewed by a person.

Placements are permanent, and most are indexed. If you ever need one taken down, we will request it for you, with a $150 handling fee per placement.

Step 5: the proof report

When your campaign is published we send you a report listing every article: the outlet, the headline, the live link and the date it was confirmed, one row per placement. It is also available as a live page under My orders, which fills in as each link is confirmed.

A link only enters the report after we have checked it: the page loads and your headline is on it. The audience figure is labelled combined potential audience, because it is the sum of each outlet's monthly readership, not the number of people who read your article. What is in a proof report explains each part and what to do with it.

What is guaranteed?

The guarantee is this, in the words the site uses: if we can't get your release published, we refund you. That is rare, because every release is edited before it is filed.

What is not guaranteed?

These are the limits, stated as plainly as the promises.

  • Links are nofollow. As with every wire service, links inside syndicated releases are nofollow by industry standard. The value comes from authority, indexed coverage and referral traffic, not from passing ranking credit.
  • Syndication is not editorial coverage. On the major outlets your release appears in their press-release or markets sections, as syndicated content. It is not an article a staff journalist chose to write. Syndication vs earned coverage explains the difference and how one can lead to the other.
  • Rankings and AI citations are never guaranteed. Search engines and AI assistants decide for themselves what to rank and cite. Clear, specific coverage on crawlable sites gives them more to work with; it does not oblige them to use it.
  • Journalist pickup is not promised. A release can prompt independent coverage. Whether it does depends on the news.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to write the press release myself?

No. You can brief our writer, upload your own draft, or add the human-written release for $120. Whichever you choose, an editor reads it before it is filed.

When does the 48-hour window start?

When you approve the final text of your release. Payment starts the process, but the clock runs from approval.

Do you work with agencies?

Yes. Agencies get volume pricing, white label reports and a single invoice. Get in touch through the contact page for agency pricing.
